An estate outside the E and C. Laquan is on his way to meet his dad and nan, but he’s running late.
Laquan: (on the phone)
I got held up. I’m sorry.
Yeah, dad, don’t go off at me.
It ain’t - don’t make it out that I don’t care.
Stop blasting my ear -
I’m on my way, I’m like, 5 minutes away. I’m trying to take a cut through -
I run out of battery! I just popped up to Mia’s yard to recharge it.
Dad, yeah, stop making out -
I told you -
wait, hold up.
I told you I’m coming, yeah, I’m on my way. Like five minutes!
Jenny (from a balcony/walkway above): I’m watching you.
Laquan: What?
Jenny: I’m watching you.
Laquan: - ?
Jenny: Move on. Or I’ll call the security.
Laquan: What?
Jenny: You can’t come round here. I’m fed up with being intimidated by your type.
Laquan: Hold on. What?
Jenny: You’re just here to make trouble. We’ve had enough of it. Now piss off.
Laquan: I ain’t doing nothing.
Jenny: Frightening people in their own homes. We’re not having you run all over this place. People live here.
Laquan: Rah, chill out.
Jenny: Dealing and shouting and carrying on. Tearing this place down around our ears.
Laquan: I’m just walking.
Jenny: Calling people on the phone and bringing them all round here. I know what you’re up to. I’ve taken photos.
Laquan: What?
Jenny: I’ve seen you before making trouble. And I pass the pictures on to the police. I’m not being frightened by you!
Laquan: Wait. Stop. Lady, I ain’t never come round here before, so it can’t have been me.
Jenny: Looked like you.
Laquan: Yeah cos we all look the same right?
Jenny: I’m taking your picture. I’ve got evidence.
Laquan: Hold up. No. I ain’t done nothing to you, so stop with the harassment.
Jenny: You’ve got no respect. None of you.
(Laquan’s phone rings.)
Laquan: Yeah dad, WHAT? I told you I’m coming. What the -
Oh sorry nan. How are you? You good? Feeling better?
I’m on my way now nan. Trying a take a short cut. Nah I don’t want you to miss the train.
Get there as fast as I can. Alright. Yeah. (Laquan exits)
