The open rehearsals by Annette Brook

I’ve attended a few playwriting courses in recent months, have tried my hand at the odd bit of writing and seen several productions. Yet I haven’t until now been to a rehearsal. I had a vague idea of what to expect. It was much more interesting than I anticipated sort of like an onion peeled- layers and layers of meaning were added to the words Kat had written simply by having a character recline instead of stand or speak in a foreign accent or emphasise THIS word and not that. It was much easier to see how a play is both organic, growing all the time and changing with each new tweak. A really nice process of exploration.
